...p>When you speak to your Yoga students, no effort, on your part, should be wasted. Each word you speak, within your Yoga class, should have a high value and purpose. Some Yoga teachers relish every opportunity to criticize their students. Criticizing gives some Yoga teachers an opportunity to hear their own voice and feel important.
Be sure that what you have to say to your Yoga students is really helpful. Remember that criticism also makes your Yoga students feel unimportant. If a student perceives that a Yoga teacher is bolstering his or her ego, through criticism, the feeling of inspiration to come to more Yoga classes is gone.
Pure criticism tends to make Yoga students, and people in general, defensive, emotionally dejected, and causes a lack of enthusiasm, within the Yoga class. - People wandering around with their hands in the air, laughing hysterically.
- People of all ages squawking like chickens.
- Men and women rotating their hips while talking gibberish.
- Improv-style exercises such as playing on an imaginary swing set; flapping your arms and squealing like a seagull; and sitting in an imaginary rocket ship getting ready for take-off.

New Yoga teachers often ask, Which aspect of Yoga should I pursue first? The answer is: pranayama. Pranayama is the cultivation of life force, and we take it for granted. If we look at Pranayama as, just breathing, consider how long you will last by holding onto the single breath you have right now. Breath is life in this moment. Without it, none of us will exist for long.
When you receive a Yoga teacher certification, look at your diploma, and take a deep breath. This is the beginning of learning pranayama as a Yoga teacher. The more you learn about pranayama, the smoother your journey will be.
